Baba Saheb B’day be celebrated as Democracy Day: Rana

JAMMU Apr 14: Paying glowing tributes to Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana today said described the architect of the Constitution of India as a great visionary, saying his birth anniversary should be observed as Democracy Day in view of his immense contribution in evolving the democratic setup in the country.
"The people will always remember Baba Saheb for giving the country best Constitution of the world", Mr Rana said while leading the party leaders and workers in paying tributes to Baba Saheb on his birth anniversary at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning.
Babu Ram Paul, Smt. Swarn Lata, Th. Kashmir Singh and Vijay Lochan also paid floral tributes to Baba Saheb on his birth anniversary.
Mr Rana said that adhering to the principles of the Constitution and ensuring the fruits of democracy to reach all would be best and befitting tribute to the great luminary. He said the ideology of the legendary leader is humane, which is needed to be emulated. "Let us fulfill his dream by creating a society based on equality and social justice", he added.
Provincial President said that Dr Ambedkar dedicated his entire life for the welfare of weaker sections and his contribution in that regard was exceptional. "There is greater need for collectively working for welfare of weaker sections of the society so that social inequality could be minimized", he maintained.
Mr Rana said the best tribute to the great leader would be to imbibe the spirit of oneness which alone can lead the nation towards peace, progress and prosperity.
He highlighted the enormous contribution of Dr Ambedkar in heralding a new dawn for the people of India in general and weaker and down trodden segments of society in particular and recalled the struggle and contribution of the great leader in the evolution of democracy.
Throwing light on various facets of the life and struggle of Dr B R Ambedkar, Mr Lochan said his unflinching commitment towards social justice brought about a revolutionary transformation in Indian social order and helped in carving a society based on equality, justice and opportunities for all.
The Provincial President and the senior party leaders profusely garlanded the portrait of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb.
While paying tributes to the Messiah of the poor and other marginalized segments of the society, the other speakers exhorted the people to propagate his principles and work for carving a society where opportunities of progress are available to all, irrespective of caste, creed, colour and the region.They said the efforts of Baba Sahib yielded dividends in terms of creating opportunities in every sphere of activity for the weaker sections, which made a big turnaround in the politico-social landscape of India. They hoped the people would emulate the spirit of togetherness and shun the tendencies of hatred for making India a better place to live.
