Pooja Chopra on her ‘most favourite co-star’ Manoj Bajpayee: He helped me push my boundaries
17/04/2021
Pooja Chopra has successfully created a space for herself in Bollywood with her choices of films and performances.
In an interview, the actress opened up about the one film which is close to her heart, her favourite co-star, and more. Excerpts…
Pooja has been a significant part of all the movies she has done so far. Talking about the one closest to her heart, she revealed, "This is a tough one. I am not exaggerating but this is like asking a mother which child she likes the most. I love whatever I have done so far; one of the reasons I do very little work is because I only take up work in which I will be able to put my heart and soul.
If I am not excited about it, then it seems like an uphill task to perform and work every single day of my life, which I don’t like. It is very difficult for me to choose which one is closest to my heart."
Elaborating further, the actress added, "However, if I have to be a little partial, I think it would be my first film, ‘Commando’.
It was the first time I ever came in front of the camera and experienced how it was to be someone else. The love and adulation I got for it were amazing. The second closest to ‘Commando’ will be ‘Ouch’. This was the first time I was working with my favourite director, Neeraj Pandey."
Pooja has worked with actors like, Vidyut Jammwal, Aftab Shivdasani, Sidharth Malhotra and others.
When asked who has she enjoyed working with the most, she averred, "I have enjoyed working with Vidyut, Aftab, Sidharth--all of them, actually. But the one actor who helped me push my boundaries has to be Manoj Bajpayee.
We worked together in the short film ‘Ouch’, directed by Neeraj Pandey. As a co-actor, he helps you push your boundaries and reach levels you never thought you could. Even today, when I sit back and watch the film, I have no idea where that performance has come from.
The exceptional performance that I have been able to deliver is because of Manoj Bajpayee; he is definitely my most favourite co-actor. I have been fortunate enough to work with him again in ‘Aiyaary’; I have learnt a lot from him."
