National Lok Adalat held at Poonch

POONCH, Apr 17: A National Lok Adalat, under supervision of Supreme Court and High Court of J&K, was organized today in District Courts Poonch.
A total 951 cases were taken up by eight benches including civil, criminal, MACT, Bank Recovery, Pre-Litigation and other cases.
As many as 853 cases were decided by all the eight benches through Mediation, Conciliation and compromise. The decided cases included 1 MACT case, 22 Criminal cases, 11 civil cases and an amount of Rs. 2049660 was settled.
Judicial Officers, Bar Members, Bank Employees, litigants and general public participated in the Lok Adalat. Earlier, while starting National Lok Adalat, Chairman DLSA Poonch, Ashok Kumar Shavan (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) Poonch highlighted the positive aspects of Lok Adalat and described it as the need of the hour and stressed upon general public to come forward to take benefit of these Lok Adalat. At District H.Q eight benches were constituted.
First bench was presided over by Ashok Kumar Shavan Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt &Sessions Judge) Poonch and assisted by Aslam Chouhan Advocate. Second Bench was presided over by Madan Lal CJM (Chairman TLSC Poonch) and assisted by Abdul Majeed Khan Advocate vice president Bar Poonch.Third Bench was presided by Sarfraz Nawaz Special mobile magistrate Poonch and assisted by Mohd Ishaq Khan Advocate.
Forth Bench was presi-ded over by Shafiq Ahmed Malik, District mobile magistrate Poonch and assisted by Sanjay Raina Advocate. Fifth Bench was presided over by Zaheer Ahmed Kafi Assistant Commissioner Revenue District Poonch and assisted by Anjum Bashir Khan.
Sixth Bench was presided by Abid Hussain shah Assistant Labour Co-mmissioner Poonch. Sev-enth Bench was presided over by Shakeel Ahmed District Social Welfare Officer Poonch. Eighth Bench was presided by Mushtaq Hussain Executive officer Municipality Poonch. The Surankote bench was presided over by Manzoor Ahmed Khan, Chairman TLSC Surankote. The Mendhar bench was presided over by Shazia Choudhary, Chairman TLSC (JMIC) Mendhar and assisted by Advocate Mohammad Rashid Mughal and Advocate Ghulam Rasool.
