Specialized facilities of Pentacom & C3R services introduced at Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission Charitable Hospital

JAMMU, Apr 18: Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission Charitable Hospital, Amphalla, Jammu today introduced the specialized facilities of Pentacom and C3R services for the treatment of corneal diseases in its Department of Opthalmology. These services are made available to people of J&K first time in this Hospital. Earlier patients had to go outside the state for the treatment of these diseases. The specialized facilities in Eye Section of the Hospital were inaugurated by Amar Chand Gupta (Chief Guest on the occasion) in presence of Anil Gupta. (President), B.B Gupta (General Secretary), B.S Jamwal (Secretary), Dr. Bankey Lal Gupta, Subhash Gupta and other members, consultants and staff.
Intrducing the new facilities, Anil Gupta (President of SVMM) said that Keratoconus is a disease of the teenagers affecting their vision This disease is prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir on a large scale, especially in hilly areas. For the treatment of the Keratoconus patients, the hospital has introduced Corneal Collagen Cross-linking (C3R) involving both the epi-off and epi-on techniques to stop the progression of the disease. Early detection and early C3R will help to stop the growth of the disease and save the vision of the children. Previously Patients had to undergo the corneal transplant for the restoration of their vision due to late detection of the disease, which now can be prevented.
These facilities are made available at an affordable cost to the patients in this hospital under the supervision of Dr. Suruchi Gupta, M.S (Ophthalmology) Ex-Senior Resident PGI Chandigarh having expertise in Cornea, Cataract and refractive surgery and Stitch-less eye surgery. Dr Suruchi Gupta is heading the Eye Department of this Hospital for the last more than2 years with zeal and dedication.
Anil Gupta further said that facility will help to take ophthalmology in the State to the next level and augument the city's capacity to cater to eye patients a substantial numbers of whom still travel to other States for eye surgeries. Now these facilities will help to stem the flow of eye patients to other places in the country. He further reiterated that the patients with the eye disorders are free to take advantage of these services which are now open for all.
