Vijaypur, Sep 17: Panther Party general secretary and former minister Yashpal Kundal organized a press conference in his Vijaypur office. In the press conference, Kundal demanded a government holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, who merged Jammu and Kashmir with India. However, it is a matter of fact that this demand of the people of Jammu is very old. But it is a matter of regret that for many years' only politics is being done on this demand.
During the press conference, Kundal said that when the BJP was in opposition, he used to demand a government holiday on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, but after forming the government with the PDP, Maharaja Hari, who merged Jammu and Kashmir with India, Can't even remember Singh's birthday. Kundal said that now Article 370 and 35A have been abolished from Jammu and Kashmir.
In such a situation, the Lieutenant Governor should declare a government holiday on the birthday of the Maharaja. Kundal said that Maharaja Hari Singh, by keeping the people of Jammu and Kashmir united, put an end to the pomp of caste discrimination. It is a matter of great regret that the BJP did not fulfill its promise to the people and the Maharaja's birthday was not declared a holiday. He said that BJP has been misleading people for vote bank. BJP leaders must clear their stand on declaration of Holiday on his birthday because several birthdays have been passed by and BJP Government was in power in the Centre and in the erstwhile State of J&K and now lieutenant governor is also from BJP background but failed to declare holiday on his Birthday.
BJP failed to respect the sentiments of J&K and especially Jammu people and betrayed the huge mandate by not declaring holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh's birthday.
This has exposed the real face of Jammu BJP leadership.
