JAMMU, Sep 18: United Democratic Alliance (UDA) today extended full support to the Bandh call given by the Chamber of Commerce and Industries for September 22, 2021.
In a statement issued here today, Rajiv Mahajan, Convener UDA reiterated that the United Democratic Alliance has raising the issue of step-motherly treatment and continuous discrimination being meted out by the people of Jammu region since the BJP government has taken over the reins of the Central Government. He said that several times the UDA as well the social and political parties of Jammu region are raising their voice continuously against the alleged discrimination in every sector but government has not shown its serious towards this serious issues. Rajiv Mahajan said that enough is enough as the government has crossed all the limits of prejudice against the innocent people as well as traders of Jammu region, who are facing discrimination for the last more over seventy years due to Kashmir centric policies by the successive regimes. He said that under well-planned conspiracy, the members of Mahajan, Khatri and Sikh communities are debarred from buying or selling land in the J&K Union Territory.
It seems to be a caste based system in purchasing and selling land in Jammu & Kashmir under new Land Laws amended by the Centre after abrogation of Article 370. The members of both these communities can purchase & sell land across the country but it is extremely depressing that they cannot purchase even one Marla of agricultural land whereas there is no such restriction on people belonging to other communities.
