Give employment on priority basis to locals in projects of Chenab Valley: Manjit

JAMMU, Sep 19: Provi-ncial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh today urged the companies engaged in different developmental, hydro projects and highway's widening to fulfill commitments made with the Govt with regard to providing employment to local youth of Chenab Valley.
A joining programme was organised by Apni Trade Union, President, Ajaz Kazmi, in which Ashok Kumar Thakur, Aman Kotwal, Sohail Khan, Mohinder Singh Kotwal, Ravinder Singh, Kewal Krishan and others from Doda District joined Apni Trade Union in presence of senior leaders.
Welcoming them into the party, the Provincial President, Manjit Singh hoped that their joining will strengthen the party in Doda district.
Manjit Singh, while speaking on the occasion, said that Chenab Valley has rich resources especially water yet Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban get no attention with regard to employment opportunities in the ongoing railways, hydro and highway projects.
"The companies engaged in these projects have agreement with the Govts that they will ensure jobs for locals in majority but the locals are being ignored and non-locals are given job opportunities," said Manjit Singh.
He said that "The unemployment in Chenab Valley is on rise even as they have enough projects to give employment to locals. However, the authorities are not asking the companies to comply with the agreement they have made with the Govt."
President, Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi who also spoke on the occasion said that unscheduled power cuts in Chenab valley and inadequate supply of tab drinking water is among the main concerns of the people in these districts.
