JAMMU, Sep 19: Congress District Jammu Rural on Sunday organized workers meeting amidst anti-people policies and decisions by BJP Govt in J&K at Panchayat Kotli Arjun Singh of Suchetgarh constituency. The meeting was organized by Vice President Distt Rural Mohan Choudhary in presence of former Minister and JKPCC Vice President Raman Bhalla, District Jammu Rural President Hari Singh Chib. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Sr. Vice President Distt Jammu Rural Sarpanch Ravinder Singh, OBC Chairmen Suresh Dogra, Refugee Cell Congress Chairmen Amrit Bali, SC Cell Chairmen Dr. Karan Bhagat, Block President Kuldeep Raj, Sarpanch Harbansh Lal, Jagdish Raj, Khem Raj, Ajeet Singh, Ajay Singh, Kulwant Singh, Puran Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Nichal Singh, Mool Singh, Dolaat Bhalla, Raj Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Bopinder Singh Beside others.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla claimed that in the last seven years, BJP Govt has failed on several fronts and we hope and pray that God gives them the wisdom to realise that this is what they have led the country to. This is where, you have failed and today as a result, India is paying a heavy price for it," he said.
He claimed India has the maximum number of unemployed people despite BJP's tall promises.
He alleged that every month, jobs are being lost and asked, "where are those two crore annual jobs, one would want to ask? Why are 61 lakh government jobs lying vacant?" Noting that farmers are protesting for nine long months without a solution in sight, Bhalla said high prices in gas, diesel, petrol, edible oil, pulses, daily essential items are making lives of people difficult.
He claimed demonetisation and GST have crippled the economy and there has been shutdown of MSMEs and small businesses as a result, as investment in the consumption chain is completely broken.
"Still, you have put India on sale for a few friends of yours and which is why, it is important that we are calling it the 'punjipati poojan divas' (crony capitalist friends day)," he said.
Bhalla targeted the government, claiming that its 19-month rule was marked by perpetual confrontation with the Opposition, unaccountable centralisation of power and authoritarian style of functioning.
It projected the government as a "failure" on all fronts - from economy to foreign policy.
The government's tenure is marked by gross non-delivery, acknowledged failure to fulfil the promises given to the nation and a betrayal of the people, particularly the poor, disadvantaged and the unemployed.
This government till now has singularly lacked the vision to galvanise economic growth and has chosen instead to create a smokescreen making boastful claims," said Congress leader. As far as the foreign policy is concerned, Bhalla said,
"Knee-jerk responses and abrupt changes with regard to many countries have caused setbacks leading to belittling of issues and India's response thereto, both at regional and international level."
