Army organises lecture on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’

Jammu, Sept 19: To generate awareness about the importance of girl child and their education the Indian Army organised a lecture on "Beti Bachao beti Padao" at Government High School, Hamirpur, Khour, Jammu. The lecture was aimed to generate awareness about social abuses and orthodox rituals prevailing in society and was attended by large number of women. The issue of female foeticide, child marriage and inequality prevailing in the society was highlighted and the need to save the girl child to overcome the imbalance was also addressed. The gathering was also educated about the various initiatives and welfare services for women undertaken by the Government and were guided on how to utilise these schemes for their benefit and empowerment. The lecture was well appreciated by the gathering and was instrumental in wider dissemination of positive message on value of girl child.
