SAMBA, Sep 22: Apni Party, Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh has sought job protection for local unemployed youth in industries, AIIMS Jammu and other sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a public meeting at Barian village in Samba District, Manjit Singh said that the industries are opening in J&K but the Govt. should ensure protection to the educated youth in skilled and unskilled jobs.
"The jobs are not being given to the local youth as per the agreement between the industry and Govt. The agreement should be respected and appropriate share in jobs should be reserved for locals," he said.
He said that the issues for Jammu have not reduced, but they have doubled with regard to business, and employment.
He said that the mining works have been allotted to the non-locals leaving the local miners workless.
"The work of mining has been allotted to the non-locals which has also caused problems to the environment due to extraction of minerals in an unscientific manner," he said.
The involvement of the mining department cannot be ruled out, he said, and demanded that the Panchayats should be involved in mining works for its rational use and extraction so that the natural resources are not exploited so much.
He said that the wrongful extraction of minerals has invited natural disasters and many times it leads to flood like situations in the residential areas.
He said that "People feel disappointed with the way the resources are handed over to the locals, locals fail to get proper share in industries, power projects, AIIMS, IIT Jammu etc."
He said that the Govt. must intervene into the issue and redress them timely as there is growing feeling of alienation among the people.
