HC keeps in abyenace sentence to then Tehsildar in DA Case, grants bail

Jammu, Jan 10: Vacation Judge of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Justice Puneet Gupta today, kept in abey-ance the sentence awarded to to Janak Singh the then Tehsildar Recovery by the Trial Court.
Justice Puneet Gupta after hearing Sr. Adv Sunil Sethi with Adv GS Thakur also granted bail and directed him to furnishing of personal bond to tune of Rs. 50,000/- an surety bond of the like amount to the satisfaction of the Registrar Judicial/Joint Registrar (Judicial) of this Court. It is worthwhile to mention here that on December 28, 2021, Special Judge Anti-corruption While deciding 13 years old corruption case, awarded 3 Years RI and fine Rs 2 lacs to Janak Singh in disporportinate assets case.
According to the VOJ (now ACB) case that the case of the prosecution briefly is that the accused Janak Singh who joined as patwari in Revenue department in 1966, acquired assets disproportionate to his known and visible sources of income, in the names of himself and his close relatives, by indulging in corrupt practices during his service carrier. Verification found that he had constructed a double storey residential house in two kanals land at Shastri Nagar Jammu, established a petrol Pump namely Shankar Filling Station at Greater Kailash Jammu, in the name of his family member. He is found to have resorted to acquisition of these and other movable and immovable property including land etc in the names of himself and his close relations in order to conceal their illicit origin. Present FIR was registered, & investigation done.
