Kazmi urges Govt to announce amnesty scheme for power consumers in J&K

JAMMU, Jan 14: Apni Trade Union, President, Aijaz Kazmi has appealed Govt to announce amnesty scheme for power consumers in Jammu and Kashmir that includes general people, small traders, shikara and house boat owners in a bid to give them relief in the ongoing covid19 situation. In a statement issued here, Kazmi said that the people in both the regions are being harassed by the PDD with huge electricity bills especially when the many people have lost their earning because of covid19 situation.
"The consumers are being compelled to pay their bills despite knowing the financial condition in the wake of ongoing covid19 situation," he said. He said that the Govt should review the situation and announce an amnesty scheme for the people in general, small traders, shikara and house boat owners, hotilers etc so that they are not put to harassment. "The people should be given one time relief by the Govt with the amnesty scheme so that they should not be harassed by the PDD," he said.
He said that the earning capacity of the people has reduced as many people have lost their business and many business establishments have closed.
