RPO Jammu observes Swachhta Pakhwada

JAMMU, Jan 16: The Passport Office (PO) Jammu observed Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st January to 15th January with immense zeal and fervour. The fortnight long programme started with taking swacchhta pledge by all employees to spread awareness, donate 100 hrs of labour to the society and maintain all round hygiene and cleanliness in our surroundings.
Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) Udhampur, Kathua, Rajouri, Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) Jammu and Regional Office of Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR) Jammu also religiously celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada and preformed various activities to achieve the objectives set by our legendary Prime Minister under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to make our country greener, cleaner and better.
While intimating this, Shri N. K. Shil, Regional Passport Officer and Regional Director, ICCR, J&K and Ladakh told that during the Pakhwada, several activities of cleaning and sanitization of the whole premises, furniture, tables, chairs, floors, staircase, computers and all technical equipment, etc were being undertaken with a special emphasis on 'no use of single use plastic'. Passport Office staff cleaned the nearby Gandhinagar hospital complex. Moreso, special exercise was driven to clear off pending cases, weed out old files and dispose-off old condemned items from store. Besides during the Pakhwada, RPO also conducted the various in-house competitions on theme of "SWACHHTA". All PO, TCS staff and family members had enthusiastically participated in the contest. Participants also made banners and posters cited relevant quotes to create desired awareness among visiting applicants, staff. Further, face covering Masks, hand gloves, soap, sanitizer, etc were also distributed among visitors & supporting staff.
While delivering speech on the webiner organised on the occasion, N. K. Shil, RPO highlighted ill effects of dirtiness and good effects of keeping cleanliness of the surroundings and urged everyone to sensitize and ensure good health and hygiene by creating awareness on safe, healthy and clean environment, personal health, hygiene and good practices in work places including hand washing on cleanliness apart from physical distancing including Covid-19 related precaution protocol. Further he iterated that the sole objective of the exercise was to wake up citizens about the cleanliness drive and to solve the problem of sanitization and waste management, better out of waste and ensure hygiene across the country and sanitization facility.
