BBMB employees attend talk on ‘Stress Management in the workplace’

Chandigarh, May 13: Human Resources Depart-ment of BBMB in association with Faith Hospital, Chandigarh organized a health talk on 'Stress Management in the workplace' for its employees. Faith Hospital is the first dedicated psychiatry, mind wellness and de-addiction centre in Chandigarh.
Addressing the employees, Dr. Damanjit Kaur, MD Psychiatry and Founder Director of Faith Hospital said that today's corporate wellness programs tend to focus on helping employees improve their health by creating clinical improvement initiatives around physical health of the employee. But it is often missing a focus on mental health and emotional wellness, pointed out Dr. Damanjit. She further said that while mental health is not as easily measured, it deserves equal attention, especially when considering the costs associated with poor mental and emotional health. The current pandemic has also aggravated the rise of mental health issues, she opined.
She said, in addition, poor mental health can also lead to burn-out amongst employees seriously affecting their ability to contribute meaningfully in both their personal and professional lives. Also, productivity loss, absenteeism, job abandonment, and higher turnover are often directly linked to poor mental health, she asserted.
Dr. Damanjit Kaur along with her team of psychologists introduced the BBMB employees to many tips and tricks and relaxation techniques to manage stress at the workplace. Most of these techniques could be performed by the employees while sitting on their respective chairs and during working hours.
