With the success of films like RRR and Pushpa: The Rise among others, one is noticing the sudden influx in pan-Indian films of late.
The dubbed versions of these south movies have set the cash registers ringing at the box office.
Tamannaah Bhatia who shuttles between south and Bollywood industries says that one of the reasons behind these films getting so much love from the audience is that their stories are quite rooted.
She shares, “Films, whose storylines are quite authentic, stories that talk about our roots are being dubbed in multiple languages and released in various states.
Such films have received a lot of appreciation from the audience. So, in the end… authenticity… subjects that are close to the culture and roots of the public are really what matters in today’s time.”
The actress who’s been a part of a successful pan-Indian film, Baahubali says that largely action oriented films work wonders in grabbing the attention of the masses.
“Well, something like a pure comedy film won’t work. Especially, comic films that are heavy on dialogues, because you don’t know if a line that sounds funny in one language would sound funny in the other language too.”
Tamannaah feels that in times of the pandemic, especially during the lockdown, people consumed a lot of national and international content through OTT.
So, at a time when pan-Indian films, that boasted of subjects so close to their hearts, these films ended up making history. “Such films will continue to garner love,” she signs off.
