Four gangs of sim card vendors involved in selling sims by submitting forged documents busted

JAMMU, Aug 12: In a major drive against the gangs of sim card vendors operating in District Jammu and involved in selling of sims based on fake documents, forged identities Jammu Police has arrested different suspects involved in sim selling rackets in the areas under the jurisdictions of PS Akhnoor, PS Bishnah, PS Bahu Fort and PS Gandhinagar.
An information was received at PS Akhnoor through reliable sources that some persons were involved in fraudulent selling of sim cards by way of preparing false documents, forging & faking identity related papers & records and were dishonestly issuing sim cards against one single photo to different persons with IDs.
On this case FIR No.181/2022 U/s 420/465/467/468/471 IPC was registered in P/S Akhnoor and investigation was set into motion.
After this special police teams of PS Akhnoor under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial were constituted. The team led by SHO PS Akhnoor Inspr Hilal Azhar assisted by PSI Zulfiqar Choudhary did strenuous efforts and with the help of various inputs finally rounded up three suspects namely 1) Dheeraj Kumar @ Jagatar S/o Pritam Lal R/o Dhoun Chak Khour 2) Rajesh Kumar @ Sonu S/o Sobha Ram R/o village Garar Tehsil Khour District Jammu and 3) Rohit Sharma @ Lucky S/o Romesh Sharma R/o Maira Tehsil Jourian District Jammu.
During investigation CAF/CDR of all such sim cards has been obtained and various persons have been summoned for questioning so far and after questioning three vendors mentioned above have been arrested for their involvement in issuing fake sim cards to various persons within and outside UT of J&K. The role of other officials of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio officials is also under scrutiny.
Similarly an information was received at PS Bishnah regarding some persons running a racket in which they first copy and paste a CQR number as well as other details of a voter viz his name, address, parentage and then filling this information in a fake electoral card, they generate the fake photo copy of a electoral card thereby requesting for a new sim. The sim companies issue the sim on the said document.
On this information a case got registered at PS Bishnah and investigation started.
After this special police teams of PS Bishnah under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Singh were constituted. The team led by SHO PS Bishnah Inspr Pawan Kumar did strenuous efforts and with the help of various inputs finally rounded up a suspect namely Sunil Sagotra S/O Satpal R/O Vill.Chorli Teh.Bishnah Distt.Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention that a large number of fake SIMs have been issued to both citizens and outsiders by the vendor. Also, it has been found that the vendor has issued many fake SIMs to different persons and there is an apprehension of increasing this number in the coming days as the investigation moves forward.
Also another information was received at PS Bahu Fort through reliable sources that some persons were involved in fraudulent selling of sim cards by way of preparing false documents, forging & faking identity related papers & records and were dishonestly issuing sim cards against one single photo to different persons with IDs.
In this regard a case FIR No. 168 /2022 U/s 420/467/468/471 IPC was registered at P/S Bahu Fort and investigation was set into motion.
After this special police teams of PS Bahu Fort under the supervision of SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari were constituted. The team led by SHO PS Bahu Fort Inspr Nayat Ali assisted by PSI Sunil Singh and ASI Khalil Ahmed did strenuous efforts and with the help of various leads finally rounded up three suspects later identified as 1) Subash Thakurb S/o Bahadur Singh R/o Kishtwar Gandhari A/p Bagay Bahu 2) Deepak Kumar S/o Jeet kumar R/o village Baghay Bahu District Jammu and 3) Mohan singh S/o Late Gopal Singh R/o channi Rama District Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention that CAF/CDR of all such sim cards and various persons have been summoned for questioning so far and after questioning, three vendors mentioned above have been arrested for their involvement in issuing fake sim cards to various persons within and outside UT of J&K. The role of other officials of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio officials is also under scrutiny.
Moreover a police team of PS Gandhinagar constituted under the supervision of SDPO South Sachit Sharma and led by SHO PS Gandhinagar Inspr Pankaj Sharma also raided at the suspected location as per the inputs generated regarding selling of sims using fordged documents in the area under the jurisdiction of PS Gandhinagar.
On this a case FIR No.152/22 u/s 420/467/468/471/IPC got registered at PS Gandhinagar and accused got arrested. Accused arrested was identified as Sahil Kumar S/o Ashok Kumar R/o chouwdi Jammu.
Further investigation of the cases are going on and more arrests are likely to be made in the above cases.
