Army constructs friendship bridge at Ramban
28/09/2022
Jammu, Sep 28: In an effort to enhance the connectivity of remote portions of village Mahu, Indian Army constructed a 37 Ft long and 6 Ft wide pedestrian bridge with the load capacity of 1.5 tonne across Mahu - Mangit Nala in a remote village of District Ramban. The sturdy steel bridge unites the village and allows easy passage of pedestrians. Before this bridge existed, there was only a temporary wooden bridge that connected both sides of the village. People faced numerous challenges and risks while crossing the wooden bridge. In the past, their access to the other side of the village was almost entirely blocked during the winter and early spring. In the winter, villagers could not cross the wooden bridge, fearing snow and due to frequent flooding of the Nala in spring, it was difficult to go to the other side of Nala. Now, the bridge has enabled residents to have all-season access to both sides of the village, as well as to basic services and markets. Over 1200 people will be benefitted from this bridge. Awaam expressed their gratitude and best wishes to the Indian Army on successful completion of the project in less than 2 weeks.
