DTTM, CUJ organizes Travelism-2022 to mark World Tourism Day

Jammu, Sep 27: On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Department of Tourism and Travel Management (DTTM), the Central University of Jammu in association with the Tourism Department, INTACH & the Cooperative Department of J&K organized Travelism-2022 here today.
The theme for the event was "Rethinking Tourism". Travelism-2022 was celebrated as a curtain raiser for the forthcoming international conference, likely to be organized in November 2022. The entire event took place under the patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu.
The Chief Guest of the event was Ms. Yasha Mudgal, IAS, Secretary to Government, Cooperatives Depart-ment of Jammu & Kashmir. Mr. Amit Sharma, IAS, Secretary to the Mining Department of Jammu & Kashmir was invited as keynote speaker. Moreover, Ms. Anuradha Rishi, President, Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Charitable Trust was the guest of honour, & Mr. Surinder Singh, Assistant Director, JKPCB was special guest.
Ms. YashaMudgal enlightened the house with her insightful inputs about the tourism resources available in the union territory of J&K & she emphasized the significance of Cooperatives in the overall growth and development of the national economy. She also focused on the role of innovations and research in establishing successful tourism ventures. Secretary further requested the university administration to send students to other states to get first-hand exposureand she also gave some input for promoting indigenoustourism products. She emphasized keeping a global vision while formulating policies for the university. She also highlighted the benefits of Adventure Tourism & Rural Tourism. The event was held in two sessions. The Morning session included several competitions comprising Quiz, Photography, Slogan writing, Folk Dance, Documentary, and Rangoli. While the afternoon session commenced with the ceremony of lamp lighting followed by the formal welcome of guests by Dr. Bharti Gupta. The deliberations commenced with the presentation of the event's theme by Professor Jaya Bhasin, Dean, School of Business School studies, Central University of Jammu. Further, Mr. Amit Sharma discussed the technology interventions in the tourism industry and how technology can contribute to the tourism revival in the post-pandemic world.
Professor Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor in his presidential rem-arks talked about the importance of practical exposure to the students in their overall development and promised to provide his due support for all the endeavors of the department.
Subsequently, Ms. Anuradha Rishi uncovered the importance of heritage, culture, and traditions in the tourism development of India, while Mr. Surinder Singh talked about the possible niche segments of tourism that must be promoted by tourism professionals.
Further, the dignitaries applau-ded the efforts put in by the department to pull up such a wonderful event and ensured their availability and support to the department in its forthcoming events as well. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and a formal vote of thanks extended by Dr. Amit Gangotia, Head of the Department.
