DC inaugurates Solid waste Management Segregation units at Sudh Mahadev, Narsoo

UDHAMPUR, Sep 29: Deputy Commissioner Ud-hampur, Krittika Jyotsna today conducted an extensive tour of twin Blocks of Chenani & Narsoo where she inaugurated Solid Ma-nagement Waste Segreg-ation units constructed under SBM. Block Develop-ment Chairperson Chenani, Parkash Chand, BDC Nar-soo, Sardara Begum & a lar-ge number of locals attended the inauguration events at the twin Panchayats.
While interacting with the PRIs and general public of the areas, the DC explained in detail about the importance of Solid Waste Management, Water Harvesting, Cleanliness and environmental hazard of the use of Plastic/ Poly-thene. The DC briefed the public about the ways to keep the native places safe such as by discarding the use of Polythene & Plastics in our day to day life.
"There is an urgent need to keep our surroundings neat and clean, discard the use of banned plastic and polythene and adopt effective methods for management of solid waste as prescribed under laws and rules" she told the villagers.
The DC informed that each facility would be used by a cluster of Panchayats from where Solid waste will be collected by vendors and segregated to end the practice of its random dumping. This will ensure cleaner villages, the DC said and urged the people to create more soak pits and compost pits in panchayats for facilitating effective grey water management.
