Police books child abuser under POCSO

SRINAGAR, Sep 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested and booked a child abuser under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act in Budgam district.
Police said a written complaint was received from a lady stating that her 4-year-old son (name withheld) was sexually abused by one Mohammad Ashraf Lone of Hamchipora Khag.
They said the victim was taken to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital Srinagar for specialised treatment.
Police arrested the accused child abuser and produced him before Juvenile Board and remained in the custody of Juvenile Home. However, today the accused was produced before the Medical Board to ascertain his actual age who established that the accused is an adult.
The accused already in custody was booked under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act.
Further investigation of the case is going on, the police added.
