JNEG felicitates Kansal, Dardi

JAMMU, Nov 28: The Jammu Newspapers Editors' Guild (JNEG) organised a function in favour of Rohit Kansal, IAS Principal Secretary to Govt who has transferred/ sent on deputation out of UT of J&K.
During the function the JNEG also felicitated S. Jagjeet Singh Dardi -Padam shree awardee and Sr Journalist who is the CEO of Chardi Kala TV channel.
Chairman of the JNEG Mr. Raj Daluja Editor of State Times welcomed all the guests and participants of the occasion. He appreciated Mr Rohit Kansal IAS and his transfer to out of UT of J&K though was a sad moment but he was glad to see the career progression of the officer. He also appreciated Mr Dardi who is a Padam Shree awardee and termed it as a matter of pride.
He informed that the Veteran journalist and educationist Jagjit Singh Dardi (Editor-in-Chief, Chardikala, and chairman of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public Schools & Chardilkla Time TV) was conferred Padma Shri Award for his dedicated services in national integration, communal harmony, exemplary contribution in the field of media, education and promotion of Punjabi language, culture and heritage. He began his career in his teens for the creation of Punjabi-speaking state. He courted arrest on June 22, 1960, for his participation in Punjabi Suba Movement from Dukhniwran Sahib at the age of 12 years. Dardi has to his credit 62 years of long experience and has done remarkable service in the field of media and became a member of Press/ Media Advisory Committees of Lok Sabha in 1997-98 and Rajya Sabha in 2014. He is a member of the executive committee of the world's largest body of print media, Indian Newspaper Society (INS), since 1988. He became a member of Press Council of India in 2001 and continued his services for three terms. He remained a member of all prime ministers' media delegation since 1993. Under his guidance, Chardikala newspaper is being published daily since 1970. He started Chardikla Time TV channel in the year 2007. Besides being a journalist, he is also the chairman of the chain of educational institutions in Patiala with the aim to spread the quality and affordable education for the masses and to inculcate moral values amongst the new generation.Due to his exceptional services, he has also been bestowed Shiromani Patarkar Award by President K R Narayan in 1998 and Shiromani Sahitkar Award by Punjab government in 1992. He has been honoured by World Punjabi Conferences in 1997 by the USA and Canada in 1989.
President of JNEG Mr A. K. Sawhney (Chief Patron daily Journey Line newspaper), termed Mr Kansal's transfer to GOI as a matter of great satisfaction and pride as and hailed the head and heart qualities of Mr Rohit Kansal, who had been the Govt Spokesman for several years. He headed the Information department and PR department as its Secretary from last several years and the media fraternity and constituent of the JNEG had very health relations with the Govt due to Mr Kansal who was a bridge between the JNEG and media fraternity and the Govt of J&K.
Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary, Information and Higher Education department in Jammu and Kashmir administration is proceeding on central deputation after being posted by the government of India as additional secretary in Union Textile Ministry. Kansal's transfer was ordered by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) in an order issued Saturday. The Appointment Committee of Cabinet has posted Kansal, a 1995-batch IAS officer of Union Territory cadre, as additional secretary in Union Textiles Ministry. As administrative secretary of the Power Development Department, Kansal played a crucial role in augmenting and strengthening infrastructure in the sector in both Kashmir and Jammu. He played a key role in the implementation of the Government's initiative to reach out to the people at the grassroots level through a programme named as 'Back to Village". Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary, Information and Higher Education department in Jammu and Kashmir administration will proceed on central deputation after being posted by the government of India as additional secretary in Union Textile Ministry, said Mr Sawhney also appreciated Mr Jagjeet Singh Dardi, who was a media baron of India and a very competent and dynamic journalist running a 24X7 National News Channel.

Jagjeet Singh Dardi and Mr Rohit Kansal Principal Secretary to Govt of J&K who is transferred as Addl. Secretary Textiles which is a very prestigious assignment.
