SAMBA, Feb 1: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, & Former Mini-ster, S. Manjit Singh has demanded assembly elections in Jammu and Kash-mir. Addressing a monthly meeting at Vijaypur, Manjit Singh said that the people are upset with the present regime as the admi-
nistration has completely
collapsed and the public issues have grown up multiple times in Jammu
and Kashmir.
"The people in both the Regions are suffering equally. The claim that equal development will be ensured in Jammu has also been exposed. The people have equally faced discrimination and poor development while unemployment is at its peak in the history of Jammu and Kashmir," he said. He said that the people want elected Govt in place of the LG administration so that their suffering can be addressed.
Therefore, the present situation is not unsuitable, he added. "It is important to hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir with the registration of statehood to win the lost confidence of the people," he said.
He said that the people are worried about their land, future, resources, employment and protection of their rights from outsiders. He also referred to the issues of the farmers and border residents who are facing negligence of the authorities towards the marginalized section of the society. He said that "If Apni Party forms the next Govt; we will ensure equitable development of all the regions, end to the discrimination, protection of natural resources, reservation of employment in the industrial sector etc."
He also said that the issues of DPs and refugees will also be addressed while asking the present Central Govt to release the pending financial package of Rs 25 lakhs per family to the DPs which was sanctioned by the previous Central Govt.
"Only Rs 5.5 lakhs was released in favour of the DPs, but many families are yet to get this amount as well. The left out families claim their files are not being kept waiting at the respective department. Therefore, the authorities should release all the pending compensation in favour of the DPs," he added. He also demanded property rights for the refugees on the land allotted to them.
