In a first, Jammu to get Open Air Cinema, floating stage in musical water fountain

JAMMU, Jan 31: In a first, the City of Temples is all set to get open air cinema and floating stage in musical fountain.
Director Tourism, Jammu, Vivekanand Rai on Tuesday evening told reporters that to promote tourism in general and recreational tourism in particular in Jammu division, Directorate of Tourism, Jammu has outsourced its recently commissioned Musical water fountain at Bagh-e-Bahu to M/s Atlas Event Management on PPP model project, wherein the company shall be responsible for overall operations of the musical fountain.
He was flanked by Joint Director Sunaina Mehta.
"The department in collaboration with M/s Atlas Event Management recently upgraded the existing musical fountain by adding State of the Art, modern operational facilities and some additional features to the existing one," said the Director.
The features are Open Air Cinema, Floating stage and extra seating capacity of approximately 1000 seats, he said adding, "the main feature of open air cinema on the banks of river Tawi is that the audience can enjoy all kind of cinema under open sky while feeling the cool breeze of "Suryaputri "Tawi" and Floating stage offers extra ordinary backdrop of multiple activities ranging from dancing, musical fountains and folk dances."
Notably, this is first Open Air Theatre alongside the musical fountain and is largest such facility in northern India with a total seating canacity of 1500 seats where audience can enjoy movies on mega screen having dimensions of 60x40 feet.
"The purpose of adding facilities at Bagh-e-Bahu is to offer one more option to visiting tourists in Jammu along side employment opportunties to youngsters," Rai said adding on that the operating company will operate the facility under the brand and style of "Aquaplex Crown, Musical Fountain".
