Woman of the Week: IN CONVERSATION WITH NIRMAL SHARMA, IAS

NIRMAL SHARMA a J&K woman who achieved her goal by dint of her hard work. Mrs Sharma passed the coveted administrative services exam and joined the 1984 batch of KAS, and eventually was inducted into the IAS. At the time her interview was recorded, she was serving as an Labour Commissioner J&K .
In JOURNEY LINE 's section of women of the week, she shares her views.
J L: What time do you start your day?
Nirmal: I don't have a fixed time to wake up like lots of people have. My day start with my office work schedule like if I've to go in the office in the morning for meeting purpose I wake up early feeling good, refreshed and energized.
J L: What made you to choose ADMINSTRATION SERVICE profession?
Nirmal: I was very good at academic fronts and then someone advise me to appear in the KAS exam and with my family's love and support I passed the KAS exam in the first attempt.
J L: If not an IAS officer what would you have liked to be?
Nirmal: I never thought that I would become an IAS OFFICER but with God's grace I became one and right now I'm fully satisfied with my profession.
J L: Number of workers who report to you daily in your office?
Nirmal: I'm a state level officer and I've to supervise the policy making and administration so our department works in rules and regulations.
J L: Your stress buster at work?
Nirmal: KASHMIRI KAHWA because it really gives me relief at work.
J L: Your work -philosophy?
Nirmal: Do your best even when no one is watching you, contribute your best skills, take initiative and make everything count, push harder every day to raise the bare of performance.
J L: Are you risk taker or micro planner?
Nirmal: Definitely I'm micro planner because I plan everything from office work to house work but if I face any challenge in my planning I happily accept it.
J L: How do you handle your working and personal life?
Nirmal: I play both the roles perfectly by prioritizing the important work.
J L: Your icon for work-life balance?
Nirmal: No one because I'm a believer of the power of the mind.
J L: According to you what is the biggest strength of home - maker?
Nirmal: Homemaker is working without any pay but lots of people don't realize that how much hard work she puts in her work and her analysis, environment, approach and decision skills is completely different from working women and for working women the scope of going wrong has to be much less because her approach becomes positive to deal with the situations.
J L: What message do you want to give to the working class women?
Nirmal: I would advise them to live their lives on normal quotes and we should understand our responsibilities and always prioritize the important work.
J L: How are you dealing with women security in your office?
Nirmal: First of all our environment should be very nice to deal with the women's security and I always tried to maintain family type environment in my offices department and I always promote healthy environment so that women's folk can feel safe to do the work in my offices department.
J L: How has been your martial life going?
Nirmal: I'm very lucky that our marriage life is going perfectly and my husband understands all of my work problems.
J L: Your fitness mantra?
Nirmal: It always depends on our thoughts and if you are keeping your mind and soul happy from this stress, strain and tension will be less and you can also begin your day with meditation and exercise.
J L: What life has taught you so far?
Nirmal: Life has taught me that it is important to live in the present rather than worry about the future. It is also about enjoying the varied experiences that life has to offer.
J L: What is your message for the young aspirants of IAS?
Nirmal: I would only say that the young aspirants of IAS should understand the government's problem and always ready with the solutions because there are the future of the country.
