Encounter breaks out in Pulwama, 3 JeM militants trapped

Srinagar: A fierce encounter broke out between governmnet forces and militants late Monday evening at Rajpora area of Pulwama in south Kashmir.
Official sources told that acting on a specific information about the presence of three local militants at Hajan Balla hamlet of Rajpora late this evening, the joint team of army’s 44 RR, SOG, 182 and 183 bn CRPF laid a tight cordon around the suspected house in the area.
As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them and tried to break the cordon, they said. Meanwhile, forces have placed lightening system and have erected concertina wire in the village to prevent militants from escaping, taking advatage of darkness.
The militants believed to be trapped include Farooq Ahmad, Showkat Ahmad and Altaf Ahmad.
One of them, Showkat Ahmad , sources said had joined the militant ranks only on August 19.
Earlier, the forces had brought father of Showkat to persuade him to surrender, however, they said, there was no response.
When last reports came, the intermittent exchange of fire was going on in the area .
