Arms, ammunition recovered in Handwara

Srinagar: Acting upon a specific information regarding presence of militants a joint search operation was launched in the Afan, Warnow Lolab J/D of P/S Lalpora by Police Kupwara and 18-RR.
The joint party was fired upon and an encounter ensued. During the encounter, one unidentified militant was killed. One AK-47 rifle, 05 Magazines, 60 rounds, 04 Matrix, 02 cell phones, 01 GPS and 01 UBGL grenade have been recovered from the encounter site. More details to follow.
However Handwara Police and 47 RR busted a hideout in Kral Sangri forests and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition in Handwara.
Acting on a specific information, Handwara police along with 47-RR launched a joint search operation at Kral Sangri forests Vadipota, in the jurisdiction of police station Handwara. During the search a hideout was busted. 02 rocket launchers, 03 Chinese pistols, 03 Chinese Pistol magazines, 30 pistol rounds, 03 AK-47 Magazines, 17 AK rounds and 01 radio set with antenna were recovered from the hideout.
Handwara police has registered a case FIR number 270/14 under section 7/25A act and investigation has been taken up.
