USTA observes 24 hour mass hunger strike

JAMMU: Hundreds of activist of USTA from different districts of Jammu region observed 24 hour mass hunger strike in front of Directorate of School Education Jammu under the leadership of Com. Hari Singh to draw the attention of education authorities towards the long pending demands of teaching community viz long pending salary of teachers working under SSA, RMSA, head 2071,KGBV,pick and choose transfer policy, adjustments of masters and lecturers whose DPC was made Feb 2014, removal of pay anomalies, selection grade to undergraduate teachers,17% pending DA.
While addressing the teachers on hunger strike Hari Singh strongly condemned the attitude of education authorities for not paying attention towards the burning issues of the teaching community in-spite of repeated deputations and protest dharanas. The teachers working under SSA, RMSA, head 2071, KGBV and their families greatly suffering due to financial constraints as they are without salary for 3 to 12 months.
He further alleged that authorities have made transfers as profitable industry ignoring the academic needs of the school and the students. A large number of pick and choose and premature transfers has been made by education authorities by clustering hundred of teachers without work in various institutions at distt. head quarters by adapting corrupt means ignoring all those who have completed their tenure in far flung areas. Situation has worsened to this extent that General Administration Department Order No.1038 Dated 11-10-2014 has wrongly been implemented by Directorate Of School Education Jammu and CEO's to favour transfer of their near and dear. USTA demanded high level inquiry so that culprits be punished. Addressing the gathering Rajeev Kumar General Secretary criticized the authorities for not making the adjustments of masters and lecturers whose DPC was made during Feb 2014. He strongly demanded selection grade in favour of trained undergraduate teachers and removal of pay anomaly, clearance of 17% of pending DA, regularization of lecturers, headmasters and principals , minimum Rs 15000/- per month wages for un-regularised RET and contractual teachers, transfer of all those who have completed their tenure in far flung areas, release Mid Day Meal liability. Others who addressed the dharna included Julfkar Ali Malik, Dr. Shashi Pal, Pardeep Singh, Raj Kumar,Shanti Saroop, Ashok Bansal, Sirajoodin, Surinder Magotra,Mohd Nissar, Yash Paul, Kishori Lal, Chander Parkash, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Sham Lal, Sukhdev Singh, Madan Singh, Rattan Singh, Darshan Lal and Surinder Singh etc.
