Ramban: Alleging misappropriation of central funds meant for development in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP chief Amit Shah today promised that a probe will be carried out and the guilty punished if his party comes to power in the state.
"It is a fact that Centre has been pumping in huge sums of money for the development of this state.... more than any other state in the country. But still this state lacks in terms of development," he said while addressing an election rally in support of party candidate Neelam Langeh in Ramban.
He vowed that if BJP is voted to power in the state, the government will hold an inquiry against those embezzling the money meant for developmental activities in the state.
"Where has all the money gone? Did they take it along to London when he goes there to spend summer. If an enquiry is conducted into this I assure you that this would emerge as the biggest scam of the country. The day is not far when we will hold an inquiry into this," he said.
Attacking National Conference and Congress, he said, "When in power these parties have been saving each other's skin but we will conduct an inquiry."
He alleged that Congress led UPA government "was involved in scams worth Rs 12.5 lakh crore'.
"Sonia Gandhi wants to know about our performance of the past five months. We ask her what they have done in the past 60 years. They have to their credit scams like 2G, helicopter scam, Air India scam, Coal scam, Submarine scam, Aadarsh scam and what not," he said.
Targeting former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Shah said, "When 'Mauni baba' used to visit Japan, Australia or the US, nobody showed any warmth, but now when Narendra Modi is visiting, the heads of these countries are giving a red carpet welcome to him," he said.
Blaming J&K’s political dynasties for the state's backwardness and corruption, BJP today said the time has come when the people themselves have decided to teach these families and their parties a lesson.
On campaign trail in Banihal constituency in support of its party candidate Shoukat Deng, BJP President Amit Shah accused the families of Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Farooq Abdullah of keeping J&K backward and under-developed that it achieved the distinction of becoming the second most corrupt state in the country.
"After independence, the two families mostly ruled the state and the time has come when the people themselves have decided to teach these families and their parties a lesson and it is going to be a reality after the elections", Shah told a public rally.
"Abdullahs and Muftis, along with Congress, have destroyed J&K. They exploited it for their own gains", he said.
Shah said BJP would work towards making the state top ranking in development and ending corruption and dynastic rule of these families.
Shah, said that after 30 years, the country has a government with full majority and Narendra Modi is a leader who could be trusted and who had proved his worth in Gujarat as Chief Minister.
"The people wanted a change and they did so by using the power of their votes", he said adding this wave was not going to stop and "it is visible in Jammu and Kashmir also, where the people have suffered a lot during the past over six decades and want to give a chance to BJP," he said.
He praised the Narendra Modi ?led NDA government for bringing down petrol prices 12 times during last five months and this is beginning of the good days.
Shah said BJP was committed to checking price rise, providing good governance and concentrating on mitigating the sufferings of weaker sections, farmers, refugees, people residing in border areas besides exploring job avenues for unemployed educated youth and ending discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh.
He appealed the people in these two constituencies to vote and support BJP candidates and in return get assured of starting a new chapter in Jammu and Kashmir.
Only BJP can bring about “complete integration” of Jammu and Kashmir with rest of India, party chief Amit Shah today said, without directly raking up its pet theme of abrogation of Article 370 that gives special status to the state.
“These elections are crucial as far as the complete integration of the state of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country is concerned. Only a BJP government can make it happen,” he said while addressing an election rally in support of party candidate Neelam Langeh in Ramban.
BJP, for which abrogation of Article 370 has been one of the core issues, has soft-pedalled the issue in the current elections. But BJP and the Sangh Parivar have always maintained that there can be “completely integration” of Jammu and Kashmir with the country only when Article 370 of the Constitution is scrapped.
Reaching out to people of Chenab valley, Shah sought their support to realise the dream of “complete integration of the state with rest of the country”.
“We want complete integration of the state of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country and the people of the state will have to help us in realising this dream,” he said.
Hitting out at Congress and NC for “lack of development” in J-K in the past six decades, the BJP President demanded an enquiry into utilisation of funds in the state.
Appealing the people to help the party achieve its mission 44+ in the state, Shah said that if people of the state want development, good governance and employment, they must vote for BJP.
“Narendra Modi has a dream for this state to develop it. To bring development to the doorsteps of the people and now it’s your turn to help us achieve our mission of 44+ in the state assembly,” Shah said.
BJP is targeting to win at least 44 seats in the 87-member Assembly.
