JAMMU: BJP National Vice-President & Membership National Prabhari Vinay Sahasrabuddhe chaired one day meeting of J&K BJP District Presidents, District Prabharis and District Membership Incharges at Jammu on Saturday alongwith State Vice-President Col. Uttam Singh, State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, State Secretary & Membership Incharge Munish Sharma.
While describing various dimensions of the membership, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said that in our country there are 1300 political parties out of which about 50 are of significance and again out of these around 45 are one clan or family oriented and only 4-5 political parties are cadre based and BJP is the foremost amongst these. Vinay Sahasr abuddhe, in his address, further said that party has started nationwide membership drive in October 2014 and in J&K state it has been commenced from 25th December, 2014, the birthday of Atal Behari Vajpayee. Giving the importance of membership drive, he said that we have to educate people about the principles, ideology and commitment of the party for the nation and nation building and inform them as to what the party wants to do for the nation and in what manner. To propagate this among the masses the party has to enlarge the ambit and scope of the membership drive and these members will become the vehicle of disseminating the information. He further said that in the recent parliamentary elections, BJP received more than 17 crores of votes and we have to convert these voters into our permanent votaries to enable the party to attain its ambitious goals in respect of citizen and nation building. BJP wants a strong and prosperous India for which enlightened and informed public is must. The membership drive by the party has been initiated to create a large pool of dedicated and committed workers for motivating and inspiring the public to work and support the BJP. The strength of the party lies in its extensive membership, he said.
Elaborating on the mechanics of the membership drive, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said that BJP has established a Toll Free No. 18002662020, which on dialing would automatically seek information from the caller and register him as a member of the party without incurring any expenditure. He also said that every party worker shall have to go in the public and get atleast 100 members registered and only then will he qualify for any post in the party.
Ashok Kaul, during the meeting, said that the state unit of BJP has to register atleast 11 lakh members and sought from respective districts the target set by them to contribute in achieving the state's target. He said that besides parent body, the morchas and cells too have to undertake this membership drive at each level and ensure that they also achieve their targets within the limited time.
