Com. Tarigami while addressing the gathering said that true face of the Modi Government is being exposed by its anti-working class, pro-corporate policies, to divert the attention of the people the RSS is playing its communal cards and tries to polarise people on the lines of religion, adding that the big corporate had invested heavily to ensure victory of the BJP in the last parliamentary elections and now it is time for the Modi government to pay them rich dividends on their investments, that is why the government is intensified its offensive/attacks on working class such as attempts to amend labour laws to give it a pro-corporate tilt, the government in an undemocratic manner brought ordinance again in respect of auction of coal blocks for commercial purposes thus paving way for denationalisation of coal sector, adding that the government has also repromulgated the ordinance increasing the FDI limit to 49% in insurance sector, land acquisition law has also been changed through an ordinance to acquire the land for corporate without the consent of the concerned farmers, the government has made its intentions clear to bring FDI to Railways, Defence and other strategic sectors, the disinvestment of public sector is continuing with full speed and vigour. He said that by way of mid-term review, budget allocation to health and other social sectors has been curtailed, MNREGA is also under attack. Unfortunately the govt has not taken any action on our ten point charter of demands. Proliferation of contract system of labour and outsourcing continues. No steps are being taken to fix need based minimum wage on updated norms of 15th Indian Labour Conference. Scheme workers like ASHA, Anganwari and Mid-day-meal are not being accorded status of a worker. No attention is being paid to issues like pension to all and removal of ceilings on bonus gratuity and provident fund. Tarigami emphasised on the need of a strong and united trade unions' unity and strugggle to counter the onslaught unleased by pro-right forces at the centre.
Com. Om Parkash, General Secretary, J&K state CITU while addressing the rally demanded that government should curb the price rise and universalisation of public distribution system and complete ban on speculation and future trading in commodity market which alone can contain the rising prices; there cannot be a third way for the same.
Comrade Tarigami urged upon the working people to unite and unleashes a militant strggle against their exploitation. Com. Tarigami, Sham Parsad Kesar, Sr. Leader of CITU, Om Parkash, General Secretary CITU, Sunita Bhagat along with workers courted arrest.
