Captain Sanjay Chauhan Dwar inaugurated

JAMMU, Oct 8: Captain Sanjay Chauhan Dwar was inaugurated by Lt Gen Sanjeev Sharma, GOC Vajra Corps on 8 Oct 2020 at Solan Military station in the presence of Next of Kin of the braveheart and officials from District administration.
Capt Sanjay Chauhan was commissioned in 16th Battalion The Rajputana Rifles in 1990. The young officer laid down his life in service of the Nation on 28 Oct 1994 during a fierce encounter with terrorists in the area of Lachimpora Village in J&K. The braveheart was awarded Shaurya Chakra posthumously for displaying exceptional gallantry and fearlessness during the encounter.
A memorial was built at Chamba Ghat in Solan City in memory of the martyr in 2006. However, with the widening of National Highway bust of the brave soldier had to be shifted to a suitable location. With the active support from District Administration Solan, VC Brigade under aegis of Pine Division took up the responsibility of relocating bust of Capt Sanjay Chauhan to the entrance gate of Solan Military Station.
The gate has been renamed after the braveheart Capt Sanjay Chauhan will continue to motivate the local populace, especially the youth and instill patriotism in all sections of the society.
