NR collects revenue of about Rs 35 lakh in Jammu division through ticket checking in Aug

JAMMU, Sep 1: The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has collected a revenue of Rs 35 lakh through ticket checking in the month of August in the Jammu Division. Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, here today, said that under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar, the ticket checking staff of the division conducts intensive ticket checking in trains to curb ticketless and irregular travel to provide comfortable travel and better services to all genuine rail users.
During the ticket-checking campaign in the month of August 2025 by the checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors of the division, he said that a total of 6537 cases of irregular travel were caught by the passengers, in which a total fine amount of Rs 35 lakh 10 thousand was recovered.
Surprise ticket-checking campaigns are also conducted continuously by the railway officials to prevent unauthorised entry of passengers on trains.
In which passengers are advised to travel on the train with valid tickets, he added, and said, "Under this, regular inspection is done to keep all the railway stations of the division clean and to prevent the general public from spreading dirt at the station."
During this inspection, in the month of August 2025, about seven thousand rupees were recovered as a fine from 33 passengers for spreading dirt in the station premises, he added.
Under this ticket-checking campaign, Singhal has said, "This campaign will continue against the passengers travelling without tickets in the division, and the railway administration encourages the passengers from time to time to travel with valid tickets so that the railway services can be improved."
