| Spurious Drugs Scam: Director Health, Dy Controller Drugs Jammu amongst others removed, more heads to roll | | Quashing Petitions by Medley Pharmaceuticals, Affey Parentals dismissed, DB directs accused to appear before Trial Court | | Srinagar, May 23: The state Crime Branch (CB) today informed the High Court that it has recorded statements of 60 persons and seized voluminous record pertaining to supply of fake drugs to government hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.
It may be mentioned that this much publicized Public Interest Litigation filed by some Doctors of Kashmir titled Dr Nissar Ul Hassan and another V/s State & Others- PIL 36/2013 was listed before the Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Mr M M Kumar and Justice Mr Ali Mohd Magrey today.
The report filed by the Crime Branch said that it had sent samples of the antibiotic for testing, which was found to be sub-standard, to a forensic science laboratory outside the state.
Computer hard discs of officials concerned have been seized and sent to a laboratory in Delhi for data analysis, the CB report said.
The investigating agency has also sent questionnaires to members of the Central Purchase Committee and Verification Board with regard to the purchase of sub-standard drugs, which these officals have not responded to as per sources.

Due to short circuit, the shanty of labourer Noor Alam caught fire in Greater Kailash area this afternoon, police said.

| | Ban on prepaid SMSes in J&K unlikely to be lifted soon | | | | | SRINAGAR, May 23:The ban on prepaid SMSes in J&K is unlikely to be lifted in the near future, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hinted today.
“The ban on SMS on
prepaid connections is because of this problem of mass messages being used to spread rumours. Nothing so far has suggested that this disease has been cured,” Omar told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
He said the State Government was working with the Centre to find a way for lifting the ban but prevent sending mass messages.
“We are working with the Government of India to figure out a way whereby the ban on prepaid SMS can be lifted but at the same time multiple SMSes can be stopped,” he said.
