National Women Painters’ Art Camp by JKCCA Concludes

Jammu, Aug 28: National Women Painters' Camp from 26th to 28th August, 2016 organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) in collaboration with Kala Kendra, Jammu. A valedictory ceremony was organized on this occasion. Sh. Ashok Khajuria was the Chief Guest whereas Sh. N D Jamwal, and Sh. Kewal K. Sharma were the Guests of Honour. Sh. Harshvardhan and Jang S. Verman were Special Guests on this occasion.
The camp was dedicated to Late (Smt.) Gobind Kaur, first woman sculptor of J&K State who had contributed a lot in the field of sculpture, graphics and drawing and was decorated with many national and state awards for her meritorious work. The following painters participated in the camp: Pratima Singh, Lucknow; Gaytri, Hoshiar Pur; Dr. Amita Khare, Gwalior; Bhawna Marwaha, Meerut; Harsimrat, Jalandhar; Mala Chawla, Amritsar, Amrit Kaur, Anuradha Devi, Jatinder Kaur, Rekha Gupte, Shivali Jamwal and Mohinika from Jammu.
O P Sharma, well known Lens man, convener of the camp & Director, JKCCA apprized the Chief Guest and others of the activities of JKCCA. He said that JKCCA has so far organized hundreds of art and cultural activities in and outside the state at national and International levels. He added that JKCCA will organize a five days National Art Festival at Rajouri where an All India Art Exhibition, Art competition and Workshops for students as well as felicitation of veteran artists like V S Rahi former Vice- President, AIFACS, New Delhi would be organized.
In his address Sh. Ashok Khajuria appreciated the efforts made by JKCCA to conduct art activities. He appreciated the work of all the painters who made paintings in the camp. He assured all support to JKCCA in its programmes of promotion of art & culture.
N D Jamwal appreciated the volume of the work, JKCCA is coming up with. He said that JKCCA has done very well by remembering Gobind Kaur for her contribution in the field of art. He emphasized that governmental bodies should come forward and recognize and document the senior artists and those who are not among us now but have played a key role in contributing to the cause of art & culture.
Pt. Kewal K Sharma, President, JKCCA said that since the inception of the organization, he has been looking after the schemes and programmes of JKCCA and backed O P Sharma in execution of the programmes.
Dr. Mustaq Ahmed Wani, a well known writer, conducted the proceedings of the programme. Prominent among others who were present in the ceremony included Raj Bharti, Dr. Kamal Sharma (Theatre), Anil Saraf, Vinay Khajuria, Vimal Mangotra, Radhey Shyam, Surpal Salathia, Manoj Chopra, Dr. Kamal Sharma (artist), Jasleen Singh and Aneesh Tiku.
