Rs.27.60 crore scam in J&K Housing Board

DB directs Senior AAG to file ATR within two weeks

Jammu, May 26: A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice B.S. Walia in a significant order directed Senior Additional Advocate General S.S. Nanda appearing for Housing and Urban Development Department, J&K Government to file Action Taken Report (ATR) in MP No.4/2016 regarding the creation of Rs.27.60 crore liability in J&K Housing Board within two weeks. The Division Bench further directed Senior AAG Seema Khajooria Shekhar to report compliance of order dated June, 29, 2016 passed by the Division Bench whereby General Administration Depart ment (GAD) had been directed to submit the chart of progress of 147 departmental enquiries in a sealed cover.
These court directions were passed today in the open court in the much publicized Public Interest Litigation (PIL) titled Sheikh Mohd. Shafi V/s Union of India seeking prosecution of tainted bureaucrats under J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and the PIL further seeks sanction in corruption cases in the light of law laid down by the Apex Court in case titled Subramanian Swamy V/s Dr. Manmohan Singh & Anr.
Division Bench headed by Justice Alok Aradhe directed Senior Additional Advocate General S.S. Nanda to file Action Taken Report (ATR) in MP No.4/2016 regarding the creation of Rs.27.60 crore liability in J&K Housing Board within two weeks.
The Division Bench further directed Senior AAG Seema Khajooria Shekhar to report compliance of order dated June, 29, 2016 passed by Division Bench whereby General Administration Department had been directed to submit the chart of progress of 147 departmental enquiries in a sealed cover. It is worthwhile to mention herein that pursuant to RTI disclosure it came to fore that Former Minister for Housing Raman Bhalla in league with then I/c Managing Director J&K Housing Board Ram Pal Sharma got several works executed both in Jammu and Srinagar purely on extraneous considerations and actuated with malafide exercise of power and the then MD Housing Board Ram Pal Sharma carried out all the illegal orders/directions of the then Minister which resulted in creation of liabilities worth Rs.27.60 crore.
