Haq distributes cheques worth Rs 2.33 cr as assistance to labourers

SRINAGAR, Jun 24: Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq today said the state government is committed to uplift the socio-economic status of economically weaker section of the society.
Minister said this while distributing cheques worth Rs 2.33 crore under different state sponsored schemes. He said government is akin to issues of the common masses especially that of labourers, unemployed youths and other weaker sections. He said steps are being taken for effective implementation of various welfare schemes so that genuine people are benefitted from these schemes.
Earlier Minister a sum of Rs 2.33 crore among 2930 beneficiaries under different schemes of District Labourer department.
Under Building and other Construction Worker's Welfare Board rules, the minister distributed Rs 2.25 crore as Education assistance to 2921 children of labourers. Under medicial assistance scheme for the labourers, minister also gave away cheques worth 1.58 lakh to 6 labourers who were injured during work.
Minister also distributed cheques worth 6.15 Lakhs to three households who lost their lone breadwinners.
Later Minister reviewed Eid arrangements in district Kupwara and directed officials to maintain complete synergy to put every possible effort in order to ensure smooth celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr festivals. Meeting was attended by DC Kupwara and all senior officials of the district and district heads of all the departments.
The Minister stressed the concerned authorities for ensuring proper sanitation around Eidgahs, Masjids, besides also the installing of LED lamps and proper supply of electricity as well as drinking water. He also directed for keeping the requisite medical facilities at the places where big congregations take place.
He also asked the Municipal authorities to put in place the requisite men and machinery for ensuring the requisite cleanliness around Mosques and Eidgahs.
Earlier Minister was informed that different departments realized fine of Rs 1.25 lakh from erring traders and 20 quintal rotten vegetables and milk were destroyed during market checking in the district. He was informed that the district administration continues with the anti-polythene drive and fine is being imposed on the usage of polythene in the district.
Minister was further informed that Animal and Sheep Husbandry has put 10000 poultry birds on sale on the eve of Eid while one thousand sheep have also been put on sale at various places for the convenience of the people.
