25/06/2017

RAJOURI, Jun 24: In view of false misinformation campaign launched by a group of people having vested interest in their private land to be acquired for Govt Degree College and constant involvement of an Urdu Newspaper in spreading unverified, concocted, baseless and motivated misinformation an FIR has been lodged at Kalakote Police Station under Section 505 CrPC . Sanction was accorded under section 196 CrPC for a complaint to lodge the FIR and investigation in the matter.
A Govt teacher has also been booked for inflammatory speeches and utterances as well as motivating religious organisations based on wrong reporting. It was alleged by a group of people that Govt Degree College, Kalakote has been proposed to be constructed on Graveyard land. A newspaper reported a protest last friday against the move of construction of college however there was no such protest on ground.
Pertinently, the State Government had earlier initiated acquisition proceedings for acquiring private land at Kalakote for construction of college however in view of land provided through transfer from J&K Minerals the acquisition proceedings were witheld. Aggrieved parties moved the High Court and objections were filed. An amount of Rs 96 Lakhs has already been paid to J&K Minerals on account of transfer of department land for construction of college. The land is acquired property of J&K Minerals since last 50 years. The graveyard exists atleast 200 Ft away from the proposed land purchased from the PSU and has a separate connectivity.
Some anti-social elements with an aim to scuttle the construction of college at acquired land and shifting of same to their private land recently started a propaganda alleging construction on a graveyard which is non-existent. The 38 Kanals land acquired for college is comprised of 30 Kanals land purchased from J&K Minerals, 7 Kanal 15 Marla state land and nealry 2 Kanal private land. The graveyard is situated in a separate Khasra number. A detailed report has already been submitted to the state government and thereafter construction of college has been cleared after dispute related to state of graveyard was set to rest.
Police have started investigation into the matter and arrests of some officials as well as private persons are likely. District Administration has issued strict warning to such anti-social elements to refrain from unlawful practices failing which stringent action under law will be taken. A jammu based Urdu newspaper is also being questioned for the wrongful and baseless news items being regularly published without any facts aimed at promoting communal tension in the area.
