NMC demands implementation of the 7th Pay Commission

JAMMU, June 25: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC)President Subash Shastri today urged upon the State Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu to immediately issue the notification regarding implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in favor of its employees and pensioners, so that confusion and uncertainty among the employees of the State Govt. and pensioners could come to an end. This is necessary in view of Finance Minister's budget speech on January 11, 2017.
Addressing a well attended NMC worker's meet here Shastri while appreciating the pro-employees/ pro-pensioners decisions taken by the Mehbooba Mufti led State Govt., who in spite of resource crunch is doing reasonable job and seems to aware of employees and pensioners problems, Shastri hoped that the Government after taking into account the rising prices and medical expenses will enhance medical allowance from rupees three hundred to rupees three thousand per month to employees and pensioners.
Referring to the regularization of sixty one thousand daily rated workers, working in the various Government departments, Shastri said Govt. needs to speed up the process of regularization of these workers who form the backbone of public utility system. He further said that till steps about regularization of this workforce are undertaken the respective departments should be provided separate wage heads to arrange payment @ rupee 350 per day in their favor.
Shastri also appealed the Union Finance Minister to accept the recommendations of the Finance Secretary to accept recommendations of the committee headed by Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa constituted for removing pay anomalies in respect of lower grade pay of staff in different categories besides non-finalization of HRA and other related allowances by the Central Government in July 2016.
Total exemption of DA from income tax, enhance income tax exemption limit to rupees five lakhs, release all pending dues of casual laborers working in the various departments of the State government and removal of all pay anomalies of clerical cadre of state Govt. under SRO 93 were other demands highlighted on the occasion.
Several senior NMC members including Rajan Babu, BS Jamwal, Sunil Kumar, Barkat Ram, Jaipaul Sharma, Pardeep Kumar, Sukhdev Singh, Surinder Kumar, Darshan Bawa, Suraj Parkash, Tarsem Sharma, Lal Singh, Sham Lal Bhagat and Bhupinder Singh and others were also present on the occasion.
