Working on clues to crack desecration cases: Goa police

Panaji, July 13: The Goa police today said they are working on certain clues to crack cases related to desecration of holy crosses. Two more holy crosses were allegedly desecrated today in South Goa's Loutolim village, taking the total number of religious structures attacked to eleven this month.
"Goa Police are pulling in all the resources. It is a big challenge for us. We are working on different directions," Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Karthik Kashyap told reporters in Margao. In addition, nearly 50 gravestones from a cemetery at Curchorem village of the district were destroyed by unidentified persons.
Kashyap said "there are certain leads and clues based on which the investigation is being conducted, but police are yet to crack any of the case."
"There are thousands of religious structures across Goa. It is physically not possible for us to place one policeman per structure to guard it," he said appealing to people to come forward with information to track down the miscreant.
"Everybody will have to come together. People should give information to police about suspicious entities roaming around in the village or any other thing which can lead us to the person who is doing this," he said.
