Director Agriculture Jammu Visits Farmers Fields of Poonch District

JAMMU, Aug 14: Director Agriculture Jammu Hari Krishan Razdan, inspected the farmers fields at Kossalian, Gulpur, Khari, Pounidhara, Degwar and Maldiyana villages of Poonch District today where he was apprised by the farmers that through these new interventions and introduction of various new varieties the production level of paddy and maize has increased.
Mr Razdan also assessed the general condition of current Kharif crops which included paddy, maize, pulses and also visited the vegetable fields including that of progressive farmers who have significantly increased their production through interventions under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) in irrigation etc. He directed the field staff to strive to achieve the targets fixed under Soil Health Card Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCC) etc. and contribute to the realization of the vision of the government of doubling the farmer's income by 2022.
The Director Agriculture advised the farmers to diversify their farming through apiculture, mushroom, organic farming and vegetable cultivation with the use of latest technology. Mr Razdan also interacted with the farmers at various villages to get firsthand knowledge of difficulties of the farmers and also took stock of awareness programmes being held under various farmers' welfare schemes and programmes during his inspection of the office complex of Chief Agriculture Officer Poonch which is under construction at the Airfield Road, Poonch.
Mr Razdan was accompanied by Ramesh Kumar Misri, Chief Agriculture Officer, Poonch, S. Inderjeet Singh, District Agriculture Officer (Exten sion), Shashi Kant Shar ma, ASCO, B. K. Chandan, SD AO, Poonch, S Charan jeet Singh, AEO (Inputs) and other field functionaries including JAEOs and VAEAs of the area.
