NMC celebrates Independence Day

JAMMU, Aug 16: 71th Independence Day was celebrated by the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) with great enthusiasm and charm. In connection with celebration of 71th Independence Day a grand function was organized by the NMC at Pacca Danga Chowk under the chairmanship of its president, Subash Shastri who unfurled the National Tri Colour. This was followed by singing of National Anthem.
In his address Shastri highlighted the achievements made by the country after independence. He said that the nation is celebrating the independence day every year but the common people have not reaped the benefits of freedom even after 71 years of independence. He also appealed the members to be untied and work with dedication.
B.S.Jamwal (ex.D.C.) was the chief guest on the occasion. Prominent social activist Rajinder Kumar (Raju), Raman Arora and Kamal Sharma were the guest of honours. They appealed to the people from different walk of life to maintained communal harmony and brother hood. Two minutes silence were observed in respect of those freedom fighters who laid down their lives during freedom movement. Among others who were present on the occasion included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Surrinder Kumar, Madan Pawar and others Sweets were also distributed in the function.
