APS Damana celebrates Independence Day

JAMMU, Aug 16: Army Public school Damana celebrated 71st Independence Day of the nation with great patriotic fervor, zeal and zest. The celebration was also a part of the Silver Jubilee year celebrations (1992-2017) of the school which was declared open by Brig Abhijit Chandra, SM, Chairman of the school on the occasion of the investiture ceremony of the students counsel of the school and felicitation of the teachers and the meritorious students of Class XII session 2016-17.
To mark the day, colorful programme was organized that included special morning assembly, skit, beautiful fancy dress competition wherein, the students of class I and II presented themselves as freedom fighters. It was followed by an enlivening speech by the teacher. The patriotic rendition sung by the students charged the atmosphere with patriotic spirit. In addition to this class wise activities based on the theme of Independence day for classes II to XI were also part of celebrations.
Besides, the Principal of the school, Dr Renu Gupta, felicitated the meritorious students of class XII (batch 2016-17), who secured more than 95% marks in different subjects, with the cash prize. Further, through her speech, she instilled among the students the thought that their contribution is very important in making the concept of New India a reality.
