International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction observed

JAMMU, Oct 13: International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2017 celebrated today on 13th October, 2017 at Hqrs. of SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu. On this occasion Mock Drill Exercises cum Demonstrations of Rescue Operations during Man-made and Natural disasters like Road Accident, First Medical Responder, Collapse Structure Search and Rescue, controlling of Small Fire incidents and Flood Water Rescue were conducted.
A number of representatives from various departments (Stake Holders), Civil Defence Wardens, Teachers and Students of various Educational Institutions including Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Shastri Nagar Jammu, Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Mubarak Mandi Jammu, Sh.Ranbir Hr.Sec.School Jammu, Oriental Academy Mohalla Afgan Jammu, Model Academy BC Road Jammu and Jodhamal Public School Jammuwho were invited witnessed the Mock Drill Exercises cum Demons trations. Students of few school also participated in the mock drill.
The Commandant SDRF Rashmi Wazir, KPS welcomed the participants and the Chief Guest Danish Rana, IPS, IGP Hgds/CD & SDRF J&K. In her welcome address, the Commandant emphasised the need to celebrate "International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction”.
The chief guest in his address while appreciating the role of SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu for conducting such Mock Drill Exercises cum Demonst rations also highlighted the concern of Govt. to strengthen the institution of Disaster Manage ment in the state of J&K.
The Chief Guest also requested all stake holders to prepare themselves in an efficient manner and strengthen capacity building for tackling All India of adverse & hostile situations.
