National level Art Exhibition concludes

Jammu, Oct 16: National level Art Exhibition in the memory of Late (Smt.) Gobind Kaur, first Woman Contemporary Sculptor of J&K state, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA, Jammu at Kala Kendra concluded today, A valedictory function was organized on this occasion. Dr. S D Singh, IGP, Jammu was the Chief Guest whereas Prof. Lalit Magotra, Convener Advisory Committee (Dogri), Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and Jb. Sohail Kazmi, Editor, Taskeen (Urdu) were the guest of honour and special guest respectively. Pt. Kewal Krishan Sharma, President, JKCCA and Sh. O P Sharma, Director JKCCA shared the dais.
Welcoming the guests Pt. Kewal Krishan Sharma said that JKCCA is dedicated to the services of masses and particularly the youth. He said that JKCCA has organized a large number of art and cultural activities across the country since its inception in 1999.
In his address O P Sharma, Director JKCCA said that the exhibition has been dedicated to Late Gobind Kaur, the first contemporary woman sculptor of the state and a disciple of Late V R Khajuria, legendary Sculptor of the state and her art has been recognized and rewarded by many organizations.
Prof. Lalit Magotra and Jb. Sohail Kazmi also expressed their views on this occasion. In his address Dr. S D Singh appreciated the role of Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts to organize national level Art Exhibition at Jammu. He appreciated that the people frpm outside the state are coming to Jammu to participate in such activities. He added that the youth can play a positive role by taking part in such events. He suggested and offered to organize workshops for children and youth on the themes related to Police's role and contribution in the society
The works of veteran and senior of the state like N D Jamwal, T S Batra, Jang S. Verman, Ganesh Sharma, Aslam Naqishbandi, Ashok Mehra, Dr. Raj Kumar, Raj Bharti have been displayed in the exhibition. The well known painters, sculptors and graphic artists like V S Rahi and Dr. A K Dixit (New Delhi), Prabhinder Lall (Chandigarh), B B Bodae (Indore), Ramesh Bhosale (Pune), K S Gill and Dharmender Sharma (Amritsar), Dr. Mamta Singh (Dehradun), Nisha Soni (Kota), Pratima Singh (Lucknow), Minu Dey (Kolkatta) and others from fifteen states of the country are participating in this exhibition. The other artists whose work is on display in the show include Amrit Kaur, Anuradha Devi, Ashmita Atul Mattu, Deepthi Jayan, Diksha Chib, Dipanjali Das, Gaytri, Harsimrat Kaur, Kanchan Mistry, Mahima Singh Jamwal, Megha Khajuria, Mohd. Akram Khan, Naresh Sharma, Neelam Dobriyal, Nisha, Nisha Soni, O P Sharma, Pankaj Piku Tunwal, Payal Chadha Gupta, Priyanka Patel, Rohit Sharma, Rouf Qyasi, Shakti Kumari, Shalini Bharti, Smita Biswas, Soma Anand, Sunita Gandhi, Yogita Dahiya and Anjali Mehra. Prominent among others who attended the inaugural function included Radhey Shyam Khajuria, Bimal Magotra, S. Deep Singh, Advisors, JKCCA, Anil Saraf, Raj Bharti, President Viraj Kala Kendra, Certificates of participation were also distributed among the participants of the exhibition.
