World Food Day celebrated at SKUAST-Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 17: SKUAST-Jammu celebrated world food day on 16th of October, 2017 in the Conference Hall, Chatha wherein faculty members and students of Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences and Basic Sciences were present. At the outset, Dean, faculty of Agriculture, Dr. D.P.Abrol welcomed Director Research, Dr. J.P.Sharma, Dr. MMS Zama, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Dr. V.K.Razdan, Incharge Librarian and faculty members and students light on celebration of importance of day was thrown.
Director Research discussed about the recent scenario of our country in the production of food grains, fruits, vegetables, milk and egg production and called upon the students to take a pledge on this day. Dr. Parshant Bakshi, Head, ACHR and Dr. Sunil Kumar, Head, LPT from also delivered lectures on various aspects of food security. Dr. Bakshi also stressed the students to take healthy food and help poor peoples.
The theme of this year's World Food day is "Change the future of migration. Invest in food security and rural development". The students namely, Ms. Darpreet Kour, Mr. Ali Haider Shah and Ms. Yashashvini Khajuria participated in debates. Overall programme was managed by Dr.S. K Gupta Prof. Agroforestry, Dr. Neelesh Sharma Astt. Prof, Dr. Subhash Kashyap Assistant Director Education. At the end Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Deputy Registrar presented vote of thanks.
