Haq lays foundation of Steel Girder Bridge at Khadanyar Baramulla

Says Govt has prioritized road connectivity as focus area

SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Full infilling the long pending demand of the people of Khadanyar Baramulla, Minister for Rural Development , Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of Steel Girder Bridge on Loori Nallah in Baramulla district.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Baramulla Javaid Hassan Baig. The bridge will be constructed at the cost of Rs 56 lakh and will be completed by the end of March next year. Speaking on the occasion minister directed the officials to start work immediately so that the work will be completed within stipulated time.
The construction of bridge was the long pending demand of the villagers of Khadanyar and adjoining areas and will bring much relief to the inhabitants of dozens of villages. The villagers had to walk extra miles to reach nearby villages in absence of a bridge over the Loori Nallah.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister the government lead by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has prioritized the rural connectivity sector and stress is being laid on increasing road connectivity in rural areas. He said better road connectivity in rural areas is vital for socio-economic transformation.
After laying foundation stone at the site, Minister interacted with the local population who had assembled to welcome the minister. During interaction, the locals put forward their grievances with regard to road connectivity, water supply, electricity, availability of ration and other basic amenities. The Minister gave patient hearing to the people and assured them that he will take up their grievances with the concerned quarters for early redressal.
Later the Minister also visited the family of former Law Minister Sheikh Maqbool who passed away last week.
Minister expressed condolence with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. While recalling the contribution of Late Sheikh Maqbool, He said the services of former Law Minister will be remembered for a long time in the state.
