VC Kissan Board flags off farmers’ tour

Jammu, Dec 6: Two groups comprising 81 progressive farmers of different districts of Jammu Division were today flagged off by Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Daljit Singh Chib to participate in International Exhibition of Machinery-EIMA Agrimach India 2017 being organized at IARI New Delhi.
The event being held from 6th to 9th December, 2017 has been organized jointly by FICCI, FEDERUNACOMA in partnership with Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR to showcase the best and latest agricultural machinery. The exposure visit is being conducted by the Joint Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Jammu under ATMA Scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib said that the main aim of the tour is to acquaint the farmers with latest available agricultural implements and machinery and technology being utilized elsewhere for increasing production of various crops.
He impressed upon farmers to interact extensively with the experts of the companies to get latest knowledge and technical know-how regarding adoption of new and efficient machines and technologies to increase the production in their respective areas to double their income by 2022 as envisioned by the Prime Minister.
Director Agriculture Jammu H K Razdan, while interacting with the farmers on the occasion said that the exposure visit will provide an excellent opportunity to the farmers of the state to see the latest machines and innovations being utilized in agriculture sector in this technology interface.
He asked the farmers and officers to get the latest mechanized farming techniques being utilized in other countries and states to see their feasibility of use in various agricultural operations as per our local needs. Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Jammu R. L. Bhagat also interacted with the farmers.
