Develop aptitude for literature, promote sports among students: Rana

JAMMU, Dec 8: National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana on Friday stressed the crucial need of building consciousness, developing understanding of literature and promoting sports among youngsters, who he described as architects of the nation and the state.
"Teachers will have to work overtime and with a sense of missionary spirit to explore the potential of students, as per their aptitude and help sharpen this by ensuing best possible counseling", Mr Rana said at the Award Function, organized by Diocese of Jammu Srinagar Education Society to honour the winners of the Diocesan level Inter School Cultural, Literary and Sports Competititons-2017 at Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani. Most Rev Ivan Pereira, Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar Diocese and President Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar Educ ation Society was the Guest of Honour at the function. Mr Rana also urged the students to participate in extra-curricular activities alongside academics in a big way, saying in the present competitive world the young people must attain versatility that alone can place them in good stead. "Given the openings and opportunities available in the fast changing world, sky is the limit for young to scale", he said and hoped that the students will not let any opportunity go unexplored. In this context, he also solicited close synergy between teachers and parents, especially at the grooming age of students, to work for their overall development.
"While parents and teachers can be facilitators, ultimate choice of choosing the field of activity lies with children as per their aptitude", Mr Rana, who was the Chief Guest at the function, said, adding that parental support makes a real difference.
The Provincial President complimented the Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar Education Society for expanding reach of quality education in the nook and corner of the State, hoping this odyssey will continue. He said private sector was lending a much needed support in the field of education, which does not only benefit students but also promotes competition among various institutions to excel in their pursuits. Dwelling upon the event, Mr Rana said he was impressed to know the achievements registered by students in the disciplines of literature, sports and cultural activities.
