DPS organizes plantation drive

JAMMU, Feb 15: In an effort to restore the balance of eco-system and to inculcate awareness about the green environment among children, staff and students of DPS Jammu/Nagbani/Katra undertook mass plantation drive in all their respective school campuses. The project 'upvan drive' was initiated by Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji, Pro-Vice Chairperson as a tribute to nature and to nurture a sense of responsibility among the young children of today. Various saplings of Arjun, Gulmohar, Neem, Amla, Jamun, Reetha, Behra, Hard, Aloe Vera, Tulsi, etc. were planted by the children who also took a pledge to take utmost care of these plants in the school. Also present on the occasion was Mr. B.S Jamwal, Retd. Director, Horticulture Department, J&K who interacted with the children and explained them the importance of medicinal plants.
The respective Principals/Heads of the three schools-Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Mr. Raj Kumar Verma and Ms. Vandana Sharma also spoke on the occasion and encouraged everybody for tree plantation.
They also thanked parents for extending their cooperation for making the' upvan drive' successful.
