Case has been politicized by political parties for serving their own political ends: Jammu Women Lawyers

16/04/2018

JAMMU, Apr 15: A press confernce was held by Jammu Female Lawyers said that Rassana rape and murder case has been politicized by the political parties both PDP & BJP for serving their own political ends and no-one is interested in rendering justice to the victim.
The Women Lawyers unanimously felt that the Electronic Media at the National level has wrongly projected the on-going agitation only in support of the alleged accused in Rassana rape & murder case, which infact was one of the issues for rendering justice to the victim family through a CBI probe. The Women lawyers have also stated that no office bearer of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, has ever restrained or stopped any lawyer to appear in any case including the case of Rassana rape & murder case.
Mrs. Surinder Kour also clarified that the statement attributable to the Bar Association President Sh. BS Slathia in regard to inciting of youth for raising Arms is factually incorrect , baseless and has been quoted out of context. Infact Mr. Slathia had only warned the State Government not to create any situation by rehabilitating the Rohingyas & Bangladeshies in and around Jammu city which is creating grave threat to security as admitted by the State & Central Governments. She further stated that Mr. Salathia had never provoked or incited the youth to pickup the arms instead of Tringa in their hands as has been highlighted in the National Media, besides few politicians. In fact Mr. Slathia had warned the government that the people of Jammu as also the youth had been protesting peacefully and urged the government to immediately address the issues being agitated by them and don't allow the situation to reach at an alarming stage as that in Kashmir where the youth find them self trapped and exploited.
The Women Lawyers also stated that the Rassana rape and murder case has been politicized by the political parties both PDP & BJP for serving their own political ends and no-one is interested in rendering justice to the victim. Mrs. Surinder Kour, also highlighted the defects in the Charge sheet of Rassan rape & murder case conducted by the Crime Branch investigation . It was further emphasized that since one of the member of the SIT was involved in a rape and murder case which raises the question of the integrity and professional efficiency of the SIT. It was also pointed out that the case has been politicized which is evident by the fact that the Chief Minister who is the Minister Incharge of the Home Department has written to the Hon'ble Chief Justice of J&K High Court for conducting the trial within 90 days when the matter is yet admittedly to be further investigated by the Crime Branch and there are 221 witnesses cited in the said challan. It is clearly evident that the case is being politicized to appease certain sections of the Society in Kashmir and also to disturb communal harmony in Jammu .
Amongst those who were present in the Press Conference included: Mrs. Radha Sharma, Ms. Deepali Arora, Ms. Anju Sharma, Prabhjot Kour, Surbhi Gupta, Jyoti Sharma, Ms. Deepali Kapoor, Ms. Shalni Sharma, Smiley Gupta, Ms. Seema Sharma,Ms. Ms. Meenakshi Slathia, Ms. Nishu Kanth, Ms. Deepa Sharma, Ms. Isha Ms. Alisha Kohli, Gyatri Dogra, Ms. Bhomika, Sushma Sharma & many others.
In the meanwhile in the wake of the serious issues concerning Jammu Province, a meeting of various Associations of Civil Society & Prominent leaders of various organizations was held in the High Court Complex, Jammu . In the jam-packed meeting which commenced at3 PM and lasted for more than three hours today on 15th of April, 2018, wherein all the leaders of the civil society held threadbare discussions and gave their valuable views/suggestions & vowed for continuing the agitation under the able leadership of JKHCBAJ President Mr. B.S. Slathia (Sr. Advocate) for resolution of the demands.
The speakers in unanimous voice appreciated the selfless efforts of the members of JKHCBAJ who have always come forward and supported the genuine cause and demands of Nationalist people of the region whenever and whereever the Governments has failed to redress the genuine grievances of the public. The representatives of various organizations felt that the circumstances being created by the certain vested interests & supported by Kashmir Centric politicians under the camouflage is a threat to the social fabric, brotherhood and communal harmony of the jammu region. The people of Jammu have felt betrayed as they have tested every political party, but injustice and discrimination with the people of Jammu is increasing day by day so much so that now the people are fearing for their security and safety. In one voice they said that Rohingyas & Bangladeshis illegally settled in and around Jammu are serious threat to the people of Jammu. They accused the Government of encouraging land grabbers by issuing communal directions in favour of particular community as also the nefarious designs of PDP to create a wedge between the communities in Jammu. The President of Bar Association, assured all the participants of the Civil Society that their proposal shall be placed before the General House on 16 th of April, 2018 ( Monday ) at 10 a m for approval, which includes the shape, nature, composition and the modalities of carrying forward the agitation for full filling the demands for which the agitation was launched .
